Nishane — Mandarin Oriental Bodrum

July 2024
Travertine pedestals and seating bench designed for the Nishane Pop-up store located within Mandarin Oriental Bodrum created an architectural language suitable for the brand's Mediterranean, simple, and natural approach. When the soft texture of travertine combines with the olive tree and green wall surface, it transforms the store from a perfume display into a sense of place.
The entrance to the space begins with the front gravel plate and the brand's metal logo. The store's threshold was designed as a subtle architectural detail that softens the transition to the calm atmosphere inside.
The seating bench was crafted to emphasize the mass feeling of a single piece of travertine. The brand's metal logo was positioned as a simple signature on the gravel surface. The porous texture of travertine, together with gravel and wood, allows three different natural surfaces to be read side by side.
The olive tree standing at the center of the store is framed by three travertine pedestals. This trio composition acts like architectural elements belonging to a Mediterranean landscape rather than a classic display for presenting perfumes.
The scale relationship between the seating bench and the pedestals was designed by considering the daily rhythm of the space and the brand's experience concept together. This small area where visitors sit and try perfumes is the quietest but most precious corner of the store.
