Cleaning and Care of Marble and Natural Stone Surfaces

Marble and natural stones offer stylish and durable surfaces for tables and coffee tables. However, due to their structure, they are sensitive to acids and tend to wear and stain over time. By following the steps below, you can have stain-resistant marble surfaces and extend the life of your furniture.

1- PROTECTION

Applying protection to marble is the most effective way to prevent surface staining. It is almost impossible to prevent staining on unprotected marble and natural stone surfaces. Alternatively, spills may need to be cleaned immediately and coasters used constantly, but this is quite a tedious method.

There are two existing methods for marble protection:

  1. Adhesive protections: Easy to apply, but covers the natural texture of the stone and may peel off over time.
  1. Chemical coatings: More durable. Especially chemical protection systems like ELIOGARD prevent staining by creating a nano shield on the stone surface. It is safe for health with its suitability for food contact. ELIOGARD protection preserves the natural texture of the stone, does not eliminate its porous structure, does not give a plastic appearance, and does not peel off from the edges over time. It is the most ideal solution for stain-resistant marble.

2- DAILY CARE

Care for protected marble surfaces is quite easy. Simply cleaning with surface cleaning sprays or cloths is sufficient. By avoiding harsh chemicals, cream-based cleaners, and abrasive sponges, you can maintain marble care practically.

Care for unprotected surfaces is more tedious. Acidic substances (detergent, vinegar, lemon, tomato, etc.) are the biggest enemies of marble. These substances can cause wear and staining on the surface. For stain-resistant marble surfaces, avoid contact with acidic substances and clean spills immediately.

3- CLEANING

Marble cleaning can be easily done without using abrasive chemicals. You can clean the surface with a mild soap and warm water solution. Non-abrasive cleaning sprays are also ideal for marble care. The cleaning steps are simple:

  • Wipe the marble surface with soapy water.
  • Rinse with a damp and warm cloth.
  • Finally, dry the surface with an absorbent towel.

By following these steps, you can have stain-resistant marble surfaces and preserve the natural beauty of marble for many years.
